Day #5 and 6 - CNN News Clips - December 27 and 28

Keeping the same story up from yesterday. I know it looks like lots of videos, but it's still under 10 minutes. Well worth watching. I'm adding an update video on the Bhutto story - it's at the end.

Big News this morning - former prime minister of Pakistan, Benizer Bhutto, was assassinated. You should remember - especially 6th graders - our discussions about Pakistan and the recent problems there. We talked about the return of Benizer Bhutto to the country, her house arrest, and her release. Now she is dead, and this could mean serious trouble in that country. Remember, Pakistan is an important ally(friend) of the US in the war on terror. This makes it an important story for us.

Here are three clips on this issue. One is a short clip that tells about her life, then one on the assassination, and, finally, one on protests that are now going on.

There is then a clip on an unrelated news story involving Indonesia. Remember our discussion about the Tsunami that struck that country just 3 years ago this week.

Also remember that these terrible events are taking place just days after Christmas, and as we are still enjoying our gifts and families.

Now, the Indonesian story.

We will discuss these stories when we return to school.
